Pastel

Pastel Corn Dish, 6” x 13”

I add different colorants and stains to a liquid white clay base called an “engobe.” The resulting thick colored slips are brushed over the textured areas of the bisque fired piece. Afterward, the piece is gently wiped with a sponge, leaving a clean, bright design on the surface. Once the entire piece has been slipped and wiped, a clear gloss glaze is applied to the piece. Once it has been glaze fired, the surface takes on a shiny pastel appearance.
